Temple University will celebrate the Class of 2024 when it officially confers undergraduate, graduate and professional program degrees during its universitywide Commencement ceremony on Wednesday, May 8. Temple’s 137th Commencement ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. in The Liacouras Center, 1776 N. Broad St. The Commencement ceremony livestream will be available on the Commencement website on May 8. 

“Commencement is one of the most special times of the year as it serves as a reminder of just why we are here. It also allows our world-class faculty to see the fruits of their labor and know that their hard work has paid off,” President Richard M. Englert said. “Our students have overcome challenges and persevered to get to this point, and their achievements over the last few years are impressive. I am excited to celebrate this new class of Temple Made graduates. I am also eager to champion their continued success and look forward to seeing the many ways that they will transform the world.” 

This year’s graduates will have a special treat as award-winning actress, writer, producer, showrunner and former Temple Owl Quinta Brunson will address the graduates and be awarded an honorary Temple University degree during the ceremony. African American historian Charles L. Blockson will also be awarded an honorary degree posthumously during the ceremony. 

In addition to the larger universitywide celebration, a number of school- and college-specific ceremonies will be held from May 6 through May 23 at various times. The official schedule and locations for the graduation ceremonies can be found on the Commencement website.  

Nearly 9,000 graduates, 8,850 in total, earned degrees during the 2023–2024 academic year and will now count themselves among Temple’s more than 370,000 living alumni. A total of 39% of the undergraduate degree recipients are also U.S. students of color. 

The Class of 2024 is also reflective of Temple’s dual status as Philadelphia’s public research university and as a global institution of higher learning. A total of 63% of degree recipients come from the state of Pennsylvania, including 17% (1,471 students overall) from right here in Philadelphia. Additionally, 49% of all graduates come from either Philadelphia or one of the four surrounding counties of Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery. 

Graduates of this year’s class also come from 48 states and the District of Columbia. International representation is strong, as well, as 116 countries are represented within the Class of 2024. 

This year’s youngest bachelor’s degree recipient is only 19 years old, while the oldest is 65. Twenty-one sets of twins are also among this year’s graduates. 

Just under 6,000 of this year’s graduates earned undergraduate degrees, while nearly 2,200 earned graduate degrees. Just over 800 celebrated the culmination of their professional studies.
