Philosophy Professor Lewis Gordon has written a forward, titled "The Underside of American Philosophy," for Robert Redding’s book Resurrection: A Historical Anthology of two Forgotten African-American Philosophers about black philosophers John Jasper and William Whipper. Gordon is the Laura H. Carnell Professor of Philosophy at Temple in the Department of Philosophy, with affiliations in Religious and Judaic Studies. He is the director of both the Center for Afro-Jewish Studies and the Institute for the Study of Race and Human Thought. Gordon is also an Ongoing Visiting Professor of Philosophy and Government at the University of the West Indies at Mona, Jamaica and President Emeritus of the Caribbean Philosophical Association.
