Temple community invited to share ideas at comprehensive planning open house

Want to know more about Temple’s comprehensive planning process? Want to share your ideas?

University leaders will be holding an open house as part of the planning process on June 19 between 12:30 and 2 p.m. in Mitten Hall’s Great Court. The university’s planning team, Smith Group JJR, will be on site to provide students, staff, faculty and alumni with a progress update on the planning efforts and to solicit ideas about Temple’s future.

“An open house is a great way to build on the momentum of the Visualize Temple online forum,” said James Creedon, senior vice president for construction, facilities and operations. “We wanted to provide the Temple community with an opportunity to engage with the planning team in person.”

The session will begin with a brief presentation and follow with interactive dialogue and mapping exercises. Among the subjects to be discussed are student life, housing and dining, academic and research needs, campus safety and security, pedestrians and bicycles, parking and transportation, campus recreation and athletics.

Creedon said the university community’s involvement in the planning process has been strong since the launch of Visualize Temple last month.

“The energy and ideas generated so far during focus groups and on line have been tremendous,” he said. “Even with so much of the campus on break for the summer, people are engaged. I can't wait to see and hear the input at the open house.”
