New Graduates Using Social Media To Stand Out, Get Personal

In a crowded job market, some new graduates are using their social networks to stand out, and sometimes that means getting a little personal. Recent Temple grad Thao Nguyen used social media to build a relationship with a Hyatt recruiter which led to an internship and being hired for their corporate management program. “Students should make (social media) a marketing promotional tool,” said Rick Ridall, director of Industry Relations at Temple’s School of Tourism and Hospitality Management. Students can make very strong connections and really engage in the industry so they can get a good head start on the job market, he explained.
