Homecoming 2013 offers something for everyone

There will be something for everyone at this year’s Homecoming celebration. The Oct. 16 to Oct. 20 festivities are fast approaching. Students, faculty, staff and alumni are all encouraged to register in advance for the weekend's big events.

There will be something for everyone at this year’s Homecoming celebration. 

The entire Temple community is invited to participate in Temple Basketball Cherry and White Night on Friday, Oct. 18, to meet the 2013-2014 men’s and women’s basketball teams; the Tailgate Row party on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Lincoln Financial Field, hosted by the newly-launched Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Temple University Alumni Association; and the Homecoming 5k Run and Family Fun Walk on Sunday, Oct. 20. in additon, several alumni groups will  be hosting reunions, including the Diamond Marching Band, The Temple News, and Temple Residence Life.

Discounted tickets are still available for the Temple vs. Army Homecoming football game. Alumni, faculty and staff may purchase discounted tickets through Friday, Oct. 18 at with the offer code TUOWLS.

Each student may receive one free ticket to the game with a student ID; tickets can be picked up at the Liacouras Center Box Office up to two days before the game, or at Lincoln Financial Field the day of the game. Visit and click on “Student” for more information.

Other Homecoming 2013 events include:

  • A campus-wide office and residence hall decorating contest, Oct. 16, all day
  • The 8th Annual Homecoming Pageant, Oct. 16, 7:30 pm., 200 Howard Gittis Student Center
  • An Evening with Stephen A. Smith, host of ESPN’s First Take, Oct. 17, 7:30 pm., 200 Howard Gittis Student Center Tickets are free with student ID.
  • Homecoming pep rally and Student Inauguration Celebration, Oct. 18, 3:30 pm, Bell Tower. This event will feature food, games and an address by President Neil D. Theobald.

Also included in this year’s festivities is the inauguration of Temple’s 10th president, Neil D. Theobald.
