TUJ students join first ladies at special event

Temple University Japan student Melody Salcedo meets First Lady Michelle Obama. Salcedo was one of nine Temple Japan students who took part in the first ladies' round table discussion on girls' education.

Nine Temple University Japan students took part in a round-table discussion on girls education with U.S. first lady Michelle Obama and first lady of Japan Akie Abe on Thursday, March 19. They were among 18 other high school and college students selected to participate in the joint Japan and U.S. event at the Iikura Guest House of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The event, hosted by Akie Abe, with a speech from Michelle Obama, was organized as part of the U.S. First Lady's three-day visit to Japan.
