Lisa Staiano-Coico newly appointed provost for Temple University, was the keynote speaker at the March 22 Women's Health Symposium, held at Mitten Hall.
Temple’s Center for Women’s Health, Research, Leadership and Advocacy held its third annual interdisciplinary research symposium March 22, featuring an array of faculty members focused on the importance of linking research, education and policy making for a more comprehensive understanding of women’s health issues.

Lisa Staiano-Coico (left), dean of the College of Human Ecology at Cornell University and Temple’s newly appointed provost, delivered the keynote address, praising Temple for being “way ahead of the curve in terms of women’s health.”

“It is important to understand that women’s health encompasses so much more than reproductive issues.

A collaborative effort is needed to ensure that we continue to further women’s health research,” Staiano-Coico said.

Sally Rosen, director of the center, echoed Staiano-Coico’s message: "We must continue to encourage collaboration across a number of disciplines in research relating to women's health and well-being that includes economic, educational, legal and social factors.”

The center is part of the Office of the Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies.

Nancy Kolenda and Sheryl Ruzek serve as co-directors, which has a Steering Committee composed of members of the Temple community representing a range of disciplines.
