In the latest "Faces of Temple" student profile, meet junior Anne Preston, an urban farmer who created a one-acre farm on a vacant lot in West Philadelphia that now employs two local residents, runs after-school programs and produces enough fresh vegetables to feed 50 families.

In one four-day period, Anne Preston — a junior in the College of Liberal Arts from Silver Spring, Md. — became the first Temple student ever to win a Truman and a Udall, prestigious and competitive national scholarships. The honors recognized Preston's scholarly and hands-in-the-dirt work on urban farming in underserved Philadelphia neighborhoods.
