Temple honors veterans during Military Pride Month

Temple's Office of Veteran's Affairs has designated November as Military Pride Month, an opportunity for the university community to honor students, faculty and staff who have served or are serving in the U.S. armed forces. As part of the month-long recognition, Temple will host Veteran's Appreciation Day on Friday, Nov. 9, with 11 a.m. ceremonies at both Ambler and main campuses.

Temple named to Military Friendly Schools list for fourth straight year

Temple has been named to the Military Friendly Schools list honoring the top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that do the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans and spouses as students and to ensure their success on campus. Categories in which schools are rated include military support on campus, academic credibility, veteran graduation rates and tuition assistance.

A concerted effort by departments throughout the university to reach out to veterans and provide the resources they need to transition from the military base to the campus has helped to more than double the number of veterans choosing Temple since Spring 2010.

On Veteran's Day, Temple will honor veterans and active-duty service personnel at Military Appreciation Day ceremonies at 11 a.m. on both Main and Ambler campuses. Temple students, faculty and staff will speak about their experiences as members of the armed forces.
