Michael Klein, Laura H. Carnell Professor of Science and director of the Institute for Computational Molecular Sciences, will assume the role of interim dean at the College of Science and Technology. The post was previously held by Hai-Lung Dai, who is now serving as interim provost.

Summer science lessons click at Lego robotics camp at Temple Ambler
Temple Ambler's “Lego Mindstorms NXT Robotics for Beginners” recently gave a group of students aged 8-14 an opportunity to boost their creativity by building robots out of Legos. Using a variety of Lego pieces, including a brick containing a microcomputer, the students built robots and programmed them to complete a series of challenges.

NIH-funded public health study aims to reduce kids exposure to second-hand smoke
With a $2.3 million grant from the National Institutes of Health, Temple University public health professors Stephen Lepore and Bradley Collins are leading an innovative program throughout Philadelphia beginning this fall that will tackle the issue of secondhand smoke exposure in children whose parents frequently smoke in their home.

GED grads take next step in life’s journey
Last week, Temple honored 85 graduates who have attained their General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or certifications in computer technology or medical office and accounts training through the Center for Social Policy and Community Development’s (CSPCD) adult literacy and workforce development programs.

Temple professor Lauren Ellman featured on "Academic Minute"
Lauren Ellman, assistant professor of psychology, was featured on a recent broadcast of Academic Minute on Northeast Public Radio, a regional network serving parts of New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, New Jersey, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania. On the program, Ellman discussed the connection between a prenatal bout with the flu and an increased rate of schizophrenia. |

The renewal period for rental lockers at the IBC Student Recreation Center is July 9-Aug 10 and Aug 27-31. Participants must currently have rented a locker for Summer 2012 and have rec access.

Today is the deadline for faculty to submit grades via Self-Service Banner (SSB) through TUportal. Grades are updated to academic history daily at 5 a.m. and are immediately visible to students through SSB. For more information, see Grade Submission on the University Registrar's website.
