To help students manage the stress of finals week, the Main Campus Program Board, Temple Libraries, the Independence Blue Cross Recreation Center, and several schools and colleges are holding events that encourage students to take a break, refuel and recharge.
Temple President Neil D. Theobald unveiled Temple's new commitments to help more students prepare for and graduate from college at the second White House College Opportunity Day of Action.

The Owls snapped a three-game losing streak with a gutsy 10-3 win at Tulane Saturday night in front of a national television audience.  

Strong free-throw shooting proved to be the critical difference in a thrilling, 58-57 win for Temple men's basketball against Big 5 rival La Salle on Saturday afternoon.

The award-winning Daedalus Quartet will offer a master class on traditional and interpretive string quartet performance. This event is free and open to the public.

The Temple University Night Owls Campus Community Band will perform old and new concert band favorites, including marches, medleys and toe tappers. The performance will be conducted by Deborah Confredo, professor and director of graduate programs for music education, and streamed live.

Temple University's College of Liberal Arts Alumni Association is collecting new and gently used children's books to donate to Tanner Duckrey School's library. For more information, including drop-off locations and a wish list, visit CLA holiday book drive.

Students are invited to visit with dogs and their handlers from Therapy Dogs International to alleviate the stress of final exams. The dogs will make three additional visits to Temple during finals week.

Be there to cheer the Owls as they host the Towson Tigers at home. Fans who bring a canned food item in support of Philabundance will receive $5 off their ticket, as well as free popcorn courtesy of the Perch, a new student-run concession stand.

English assessment mandatory for international teaching assistants

All graduate international teaching assistants (ITAs) are required by the state of Pennsylvania to prove English language proficiency and must be evaluated and certified in order to assume teaching duties. Temple ITAs must do so before the start of the spring 2015 semester. The SPEAK test, an English assessment exam, is currently being administered by appointment only. Please contact the ITA Program office at ita@temple.edu or go to temple.edu/ita for more information (including exemptions) or to register to take the test.
