GratiTUesday: Gene, MED ’79, and Cathy Salkind

The value of a Temple degree motivates one couple to give back.

Gene, MED ’79, and Cathy Salkind have supported Temple for more than 25 years.
Gene Salkind, MED ’79, and his wife, Cathy, have made giving to Temple a priority for decades. Their commitment to giving back to the university has earned them a place in the Wachman Society, a giving society that recognizes donors who have made gifts to Temple for 25 consecutive years or more.

As loyal Temple supporters, the Salkinds have seen their gifts benefit a number of the university’s initiatives over the years. They’ve given to Temple Fund, the Ginsburg Health Sciences Center Library and the Lewis Katz School of Medicine. They’ve also provided grants and scholarships to deserving students.

“I feel strongly that Temple really gave me my shot, gave me my start,” said Salkind. “I have a closeness to Temple that is very valuable to me.”
