Joseph Y. Cheung has been appointed chair of the Department of Medicine in Temple University School of Medicine. In addition to shaping the strategic growth of that department, Cheung will continue his current clinical work in Temple University Hospital’s Nephrology Division and maintain the research progress being made in his NIH-funded basic-science laboratory.

The #TemplePhotoOfTheWeek captures a recent snowy scene on Main Campus. The image was taken by TU Photography student-worker Hannah Close, a senior photography major.

In an effort to encourage and foster more international collaboration opportunities for Temple faculty, College of Science and Technology Dean Michael Klein organized two daylong research symposiums last month in Japan and Korea.
Temple University will close at the end of business on Friday, Dec. 20, and reopen Thursday, Jan. 2. A limited number of services and offices will remain open during the break.

Faculty of the Game: Jacqueline Tanaka
Jacqueline Tanaka, associate professor of biology in the College of Science and Technology, was honored with the "Faculty of the Game" award during the Temple men's basketball game on Dec. 18. She was recognized for her outstanding teaching and mentorship of biology students.

Montgomery Avenue street closing

Montgomery Avenue, between 12th & 13th streets, will be closed periodically beginning Monday, Dec. 23 through Wednesday, Jan. 8 between the hours of 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. The streets will be open Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1.
