On Saturday, Jan. 18, Temple men’s basketball will host ESPN’s College GameDay prior to their game versus LaSalle at the Palestra. College GameDay is a weekly, national studio show. It will begin at 10 a.m. on ESPNU and continue at 11 a.m. on ESPN. The Temple versus LaSalle game tips off at noon and also will be televised on ESPN. |

On Jan. 14, students from local North Philadelphia schools came together to celebrate with Temple women's basketball head coach Tonya Cardoza and the Temple Owls as they prepared to face Southern Methodist University. Promoting the theme "Shooting for Success," Cardoza stressed the importance of teamwork, leadership and teamwork as she spoke to the kids.

Judith Levine, assistant professor of sociology at Temple, joined a panel on MSNBC's The Melissa Harris-Perry Show to discuss the challenges facing single mothers from low-income backgrounds and what can be done to provide them with more support.

Faculty of the Game: Istvan Varkonyi
Istvan Varkonyi, associate professor of German, was honored with the "Faculty of the Game" award during the Temple men's basketball game Jan. 11. The Temple men’s basketball team studied with Varkonyi while traveling and playing exhibition basketball in Europe.
