Join family and friends for a celebration of the life of George E. Moore, university counsel and secretary of the Board of Trustees, Sunday, March 9, at 4 p.m. The service will take place in the Temple Performing Arts Center, located at 1837 N. Broad St. Moore’s family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Temple University. Complimentary parking will be available in the 15th Street Lot between Norris Street and Montgomery Avenue.

An event last week marked the first time a person being interviewed on TUTV was weightless. Astronauts Mike Hopkins, Rick Mastracchio and Koichi Wakata fielded questions from Temple students during a live interview from the International Space Station Feb. 27.

Dave O'Brien, one of only nine men to serve as director of athletics at Temple University, passed away March 1 after a six-year battle with cancer.

Temple University Press authors Deborah Willis and Barbara Krauthamer's book, 'Envisioning Emancipation: Black Americans and the End of Slavery,' has won an NAACP Image Award for 'Outstanding Literary Work—Non-Fiction.'

A symposium hosted by the American Jewish Committee Philadelphia and the National Museum of American Jewish History examines local grassroots activists who fueled the movement to free Soviet Jewry. Special guests include Shaul Kelner, associate professor of sociology and Jewish studies at Vanderbilt University, and Benjamin Nathans, associate professor of history at the University of Pennsylvania.
