Provost Hai-Lung Dai has launched an initiative to ensure that adjunct faculty have the tools and resources to support them as educators at Temple. The initial goals include strengthening adjunct instructors’ connections to the scholarly community and increasing access to teaching and evaluation resources, including those tools that will enhance academic outcomes.

The topic of Victoria Marchiony’s senior research project is sure to spark a dialogue among members of the millennial generation. The journalism major devoted her final semester at the Temple University School of Media and Communication to finding out what makes “hipsters” tick.
Diet or zero-calorie beverages might play a positive role in weight loss when consumed as a part of a behavioral weight-loss program, according to a new study involving researchers from the Center for Obesity Research and Education at Temple University.

The Woman’s National Farm & Garden Association will celebrate its 100th anniversary at Temple's Ambler Campus. Events will include a parade of flags, followed by a dedication ceremony in the newly-renovated Woman's Farm and Garden Visitors Center, and lunch in the Louise Bush-Brown Formal Perennial Gardens.

At this culminating event for the 2014 Celebration of Black Writing, Ernest Gaines—Pulitzer Prize nominee and multi-award winning author of such books as A Lesson Before Dying, A Gathering of Old Men, and The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pitman—will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Friday, May 30, 7 p.m., Temple Performing Arts Center. 

At the 2014 Collegiate Rugby Championship, Temple Rugby will compete against top rugby programs in the country. The CRC features 20 of the top collegiate men’s rugby clubs playing 47 matches over two days. Tickets to this year’s tournament also include access to the Women’s Collegiate Rugby Championship, the High School Rugby Challenge, the National Small College Rugby Championship and the debut of a new Rugby Sevens format. The Temple community is invited to a tour of Northview Gardens led by Jenny Rose Carey, director of the Ambler Arboretum of Temple University. The four-acre area includes a dry garden, herb garden, sunset garden, stumpery and new red bud allée. Carey and her gardens were featured on the Public Broadcasting System's “The Victory Garden.”
