- Building Just and Sustainable Communities for All: Why Equality Matters. Learn about the connection between healthy people and healthy places in this lecture presented by Robert D. Bullard, dean of the Barbara Jordan-Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs at Texas Southern University. Bullard, often described as the "father of environmental justice," has documented for more than three decades in more than a dozen books that healthy places and healthy people are highly correlated. - West Philly Earthship talk. Visit the new Rad Dish Cafe to learn about the earthship being developed in West Philadelphia by LoveLovingLove Inc., whose mission is to heal impoverished communities with holistic health education. - Bike Temple Spring Ride to Pier 53. Join Bike Temple in riding to the new Washington Avenue Park and Pier (the former Pier 53) on the Delaware River Waterfront to enjoy the views and learn about this location's unique history regarding Philadelphia's immigrant population. The ride leaves at 10:15 a.m. from the Bell Tower; bikes and helmets are required. Saturday, April 18, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., meet at the Bell Tower; bike to Washington Avenue Park and Pier.
