It's often a game of who's who when you're in the hospital with everybody wearing scrubs. Are you talking to the doctor or the nurse? Now, the transition has been made easier by Temple University Hospital’s new color-coded scrub system. Pam Teufel, vice president of human resources said, “It can be stressful to patients if all the clinicians coming in the room are wearing the same color scrubs.” NBC10

Harvard University revealed its long-awaited plan for restructuring its library system that will likely include consolidating many services. Many Harvard librarians said they felt left out of the loop, and some said cuts could hurt the library. According to Steven Bell, associate university librarian at Temple, “The restructuring may not diminish the strength of the collections or services, but there is a strong emotional connection to what these academic libraries mean.” Boston Globe

Spending on health care continues to rise with up to 30 percent of the total due to overuse of drugs, tests, and treatments. To begin attacking this complex problem, a group of physicians has proposed a simple solution: Talk before you test. Darilyn Moyer, an internist at Temple and one of the paper's authors, said that when her patients want a test that she believes is not necessary, she pushes hard to find out the source of their belief. Tree House Books, a nonprofit organization in North Philadelphia, works to "grow and sustain a community of readers, writers, and thinkers" through afterschool and enrichment programs. Students work with tutors from nearby Temple University. The program was piloted in 2006 by Temple professor Eli Goldblatt who connected graduate students in the creative writing program with teacher assistantships at Tree House.
