Taking a stand against bias and violence

To the Temple University community:

The violent deaths of eight people at Atlanta-area spas on Tuesday remains under investigation. While the cause remains unclear, the facts are stunning: six women of Asian descent were among the eight who were killed. These killings come during a rise of attacks against Asians, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in this country. We share the outrage and frustration at the repeated incidents of bias and violence, and join with others in condemning them.

Temple’s diversity is its strength. When one group in our community feels threatened, we all feel the impact.

Those who have been affected by these events have multiple resources to turn to: the Wellness Resource Center, the Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity, Advocacy and Leadership (IDEAL), Tuttleman Counseling Services, Equal Opportunity Compliance, and the Office of International Affairs

Anyone who has experienced or witnessed acts of discrimination should report them to Temple’s Campus Safety Services at 215-204-1234. Complaints can also be made confidentially through the university’s Ethics and Compliance Helpline either online or by calling 844-755-3394.

Only by coming together can we ensure that each member of the Temple community knows that they are safe and valued.
