With nearly 25 percent of Americans living alone and starved of time for relationships, ballroom dancing offers intimacy without the commitment.

New reality emerges for law firm hiring

Hiring of summer interns by Philadelphia’s law firms has continued to climb after bottoming out because of the recession. But law school career planning professionals believe they never will return to pre-recession figures, as a new hiring model has emerged. Melissa Lennon, assistant dean for career planning for Temple’s Beasley School of Law, said, “It makes a lot more sense than over-hiring in the summer and not giving offers or having to defer them.”

Temple women optimistic going into the A-10 tournament

Coach Tonya Cardoza has led her teams to win Big Five titles and continuously make the NCAA tournament. This season Temple women’s basketball had a 13-game win streak, including a Big Five triumph over Penn. "I like how we finished," Cardoza said of her team placing second in the league and in the Big Five. "Now we'll take it one game at a time."

Spring is already blooming

Winter may not be over, but with temperatures approaching 50 and 60 degrees, daffodils and crocuses have begun to poke their heads up. Jenny Rose Carey, director of the Ambler Arboretum of Temple, said the sunny days are forcing flora to bloom about three weeks early. “The pattern of flowering, or sequence of what is blooming, is the same; it’s just earlier than usual,” said Carey.

Temple students start business through hands-on business class

A group of Temple students has their eyes set on being CEOs of their own companies. Last fall, the students took a course that would teach them to produce short videos. "The mission was … for the students to learn about entrepreneurship by building a company from the ground-up while they also learned from the successful entrepreneurs they interviewed," said Jaine Lucas, executive director of Fox's Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute.
