In a crowded job market, some new graduates are using their social networks to stand out, and sometimes that means getting a little personal. Recent Temple grad Thao Nguyen used social media to build a relationship with a Hyatt recruiter which led to an internship and being hired for their corporate management program. “Students should make (social media) a marketing promotional tool,” said Rick Ridall, director of Industry Relations at Temple’s School of Tourism and Hospitality Management.

Temple student making her mark as a Pinterest marketer

With three million followers on Pinterest, Brittany Cozzens, a Temple sophomore, is among the most followed people on the site. Her success landed her a paying job with a marketing company. Cozzens is majoring in advertising and wants to be an art director at an ad agency. "It's branding yourself," Cozzens said. "You can describe who you are in words . . . and if you go on my Pinterest, that's what you're actually going to find. It's who you are." Cozzens also designs for Temple's student-run ad agency.

Temple University announces 2.8 percent combined base tuition increase

Temple University’s Board of Trustees approved an average 2.8 percent combined increase in undergraduate base tuition for 2013-14. Tuition will increase $400 to $13,406 for instate students and $600 to $23,432 for out-of state students. Temple's trustees also approved an increase of $8.1 million for student financial aid, bringing the university's total financial aid budget to $93 million.

The award is the highest honor conferred by APS and recognizes distinguished members for a lifetime of significant intellectual contributions to the field of psychology.
