David B. Sarwer and Leah M. Schumacher, obesity researchers from the College of Public Health, warn plastic surgeons that they should seek additional training in obesity management before prescribing popular weight loss drugs.
Launched by the Office of Community Impact and Civic Engagement, eligible nonfaculty employees can use up to eight hours of paid civic engagement time annually for volunteer activities. Faculty will be able to volunteer during nonteaching hours, and opportunities are also available for students and alumni.
For Temple’s first-ever Gilman Advising Day, the university will gather many of its university departments and resources in a one-day event to encourage more students to apply for the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship, which offers up to $5,000 to U.S. citizens with limited financial means to study abroad. To be eligible for the scholarship a student is required to be a recipient of a federal Pell Grant at the time of application or provide proof that they will be receiving a Pell Grant during their study abroad program or internship term.
Selected from more than 100 proposals, Temple researchers will use the two-year NCAA Innovations in Research and Practice Grant to build JournAI, a first-of-its-kind app supporting athletes’ holistic development and well-being.
