Owls celebrate Alumni Weekend 2014

Video Production: Gina Benigno

During Alumni Weekend 2014, April 25–27, Owls from around the country returned to Main Campus to experience today’s Temple and celebrate their Temple pride.

Over the three-day period, they participated in over 50 events, including a 5K Run and Family Fun Walk that offered participants the chance to tour Main Campus and festival held at the Bell Tower that featured a campus-wide scavenger hunt, live music by Temple alumni-backed jazz band Hot Club Philly and a beer tasting showcasing local craft brews from alumni-owned Victory Brewing Company. Past and current students also had the chance to see the 2014 Temple Football team in action at their annual Cherry and White game.

Reunion classes that celebrated this year donated a total of $885,103 to Temple. Graduates of the Class of 1964 got together—along with members of earlier classes—at the Golden Owls Reunion Brunch and the 50th Reunion Jubiliee, where they celebrated their 50th Reunion and presented the university with a check for $779,072. The Class of 2004 celebrated its 10th reunion and presented $19,165 to the university.

Additionally, LGBTQ activist Edie Windsor, CLA ’50—who brought the lawsuit to the Supreme Court that overturned the Defense of Marriage Act in 2013—received an Alumni Fellow Award from the Temple University Alumni Association.
