Temple Football honors Lewis Katz at season opening win
The Owls opened the 2014 football season with a big 37-7 win over Vanderbilt on a nationally televised stage Thursday, Aug. 28, in Nashville, Tenn. The university’s new advertisement debuted during the game.
Another addition to the team made its first appearance at Vanderbilt: Commemorative patches were placed on the Owls’ helmets in a touching tribute to Temple alumnus and trustee Lewis Katz, who passed away May 31, 2014.
Thunderstorms in the Nashville area delayed kickoff until 10:52 p.m.; the final whistle didn't blow until nearly 2:15 a.m. today.
Temple will return to Philadelphia for the home opener on Saturday, Sept. 6, when the Owls host Navy at 1 p.m. at Lincoln Financial Field.
