As the semester winds down, students across campus are holding late-night cramming sessions, meeting with study groups to compare notes and pulling all-nighters in the library to finish research papers.
To help students manage the stress of finals week, the Main Campus Program Board, Temple Libraries, the Independence Blue Cross (IBC) Recreation Center , and several schools and colleges are holding events that encourage students to take a break, refuel and recharge.
“It is great that students worry about their finals, because that means they care a lot about their education, but we don’t want their stress and anxiety to take over their lives,” said Bryan Newman, program coordinator with Student Activities and advisor for the Main Campus Program Board. “We love to offer these stress-relieving programs during finals week to give Temple students an opportunity to relax and enjoy themselves in the midst of all their studying.”
Starting on Tuesday, Dec. 9, the IBC will offer an extended group fitness schedule and mini-massages as part of its Stress Less Week activities. Students can sign up to wind down with a yoga class, sweat out their stress during an intense boot camp session or relax with a 10-minute massage.
On the following day, Wednesday, Dec. 10, and several other times through finals week, Temple University Libraries will welcome the canines of Therapy Dogs International to campus for some pet therapy. This year the puppies will make stops at the Ginsburg Health Sciences Library, the Science and Engineering Library, and Paley Library.
On Thursday, Dec. 11, Student Activities will host the Breakfast Bonanza from 10 p.m. to midnight. Students can kick back and watch episodes of their favorite ’90’s shows, such as Boy Meets World and Saved by the Bell, while fueling up on a “fourthmeal” of breakfast treats.
