A record number of merit awards, totaling 2,788 units, have been distributed to non-tenure track and tenure-track/tenured faculty members.

Provost Hai-Lung Dai announced that 840 faculty members will receive merit awards for meritorious activity in 2013–14. A record number of merit awards, totaling 2,788 units, have been distributed to nontenure-track and tenure-track/tenured faculty members. These awards will be paid in May 2015 and will be retroactive to January 2015.

Each year, Temple University recognizes faculty for their outstanding performance in teaching and instruction, research, scholarship, creative activity, and/or outstanding performance in university service, or service to the profession or discipline. The process began during the fall 2014 semester through nominations by the provost, deans, department chairs/colleagues or self-nominations.

“A merit award reflects the continued dedication and commitment of our faculty to scholarship and students, and highlights the exceptional drive for excellence in the performance of our faculty,” said Provost Dai. “Our deans, college and department committees, and department chairs were committed to ensuring that these deserving and distinguished individuals received recognition,” added Provost Dai. “I only wish that we could have more merit units to award our dedicated faculty. I thank everyone for their time and diligence in this important process.”

A list of merit award recipients is available at the Office of the Provost's website.
