Helping teachers understand the science of learning
How do students understand new ideas?
To ensure that teachers understand the answer to this and other questions, College of Education Dean Gregory Anderson is partnering with other education leaders across the country.
The group, called Deans for Impact, is a national nonprofit organization representing 24 educators from schools including Johns Hopkins, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Texas Tech. Their mission is to improve how teachers are trained and prepared for their profession.
Deans for Impact recently launched its first initiative with the publication of The Science of Learning. The resource guide summarizes existing research from cognitive science related to how students learn and then connects the research to real-world settings.
