Daniel E. Rosner, LAW ’83, makes $1.5 million gift to support Temple National Trial Team
In recognition of the gift, the team will now be known as the Temple Rosner National Trial Team. The team regularly places in both regional and national competitions.

Temple University Beasley School of Law has announced a $1.5 million gift from Daniel E. Rosner, a 1983 graduate of Temple Law School and a 1980 graduate of Temple's Fox School of Business. The gift will support Temple’s highly regarded National Trial Team. In recognition of Rosner’s generosity, the team will now be known as the Temple Rosner National Trial Team.
The National Trial Team represents Temple Law in regional and national mock trial competitions. Students can audition for the team beginning in the spring of their first year of law school, and those who make the team earn academic credit for participation. Trial Team provides exceptional advocates the opportunity to further hone their courtroom skills while promoting Temple's unique, standard-setting approach to trial advocacy education.
“We are incredibly grateful for the remarkable generosity of Daniel E. Rosner,” Temple President John Fry said. “The Trial Advocacy program is consistently among the top ranked programs in the country by U.S. News and World Report, and the National Trial Team has a well-earned reputation for showcasing Temple’s commitment to excellence. This significant gift will create even more opportunity for Temple Beasley students to benefit from all the trial team has to offer.”
“With this gift, Mr. Rosner will further elevate Temple Law’s top-ranked trial advocacy program both in terms of standing among its peers and opportunities for its students,” said Dean Rachel Rebouché. “We’re grateful for his partnership and support and excited to see what the Temple Rosner National Trial Team will accomplish.”
Jules Epstein, Temple’s director of advocacy programs and the Edward D. Ohlbaum Professor of Law, noted the significance of the gift to both students and the institution.
“Temple’s National Trial Team offers students a wealth of opportunities to improve their skills and to showcase those skills and Temple’s teaching and values to a national audience, elevating Temple’s standing around the globe as a preeminent advocacy school and hub,” he said. “This generous gift—from an alum who has excelled as a trial lawyer—will help make that possible in perpetuity and inspire our students as they learn and succeed.”
Rosner described the impact of Temple’s trial advocacy program on his own career. “My Temple legal education set me on the path to success and made sure I was several steps ahead of my peers from other law schools in terms of courtroom skills, preparation for practice and confidence that I belonged in that arena,” Rosner said. “My intent with this gift is to help ensure that more Temple students, especially those with tremendous potential but limited resources, can access everything the trial advocacy program has to offer them. It’s an investment in the future for Temple Law and its talented students.”
Professor Elizabeth Lippy, who leads the JD trial advocacy program and the trial team, is a 2003 graduate who stood out as a competitor while in law school before building her own successful career as an advocate. “The generosity of Dan Rosner, a distinguished two-time Temple graduate, exemplifies the spirit of excellence and dedication that Temple Law embodies,” she said. “Dan’s support will not only empower our trial team to continue producing practice-ready trial lawyers but also serves as an inspiration to all. Thank you, Dan, for your unwavering commitment to our community and for being a beacon of generosity and inspiration."
“I’m proud to give back to Temple Law, and specifically to the trial advocacy program,” Rosner said. “When I look back at what I’ve accomplished in my own career and consider what I still hope to achieve, I know that Temple Law has been instrumental in making that possible. I look forward to cheering on members of the Temple Rosner National Team as they forge their own successes and make all of us very proud.”
