Why I chose Temple: “I chose Temple because it’s located in a big city with access to Philadelphia’s four major professional sports teams. I knew that Temple’s School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management program could provide great opportunities to work part-time and volunteer with professional sports teams in the area. Now I am currently interning with two professional soccer teams, the North Carolina Football Club and North Carolina Courage. In my role with the teams, I have gained experience working with the stadium operations group, helping to set up everything inside the stadium to ensure it is ready for game days and other events. I also do preparation work with other departments to ensure operations run smoothly during game days.”
Transformative Temple moment: “My Temple Made moment was getting a chance to experience global business hands-on by studying abroad at Temple Rome during the fall semester in 2023. As part of Fox’s global immersions program, I completed a sustainability project based on my passion for sports. I collected lightly used sports gear and donated it to a nonprofit organization that assists underserved communities in Rome. I worked with different markets and vendors in Rome to acquire sports equipment and donated approximately 150 items, including cleats, tennis rackets, soccer balls and sports clothes. I learned there are a lot of nonprofit organizations in Europe that do not have the resources that American nonprofits have, so to be able to help people in need internationally was one of my proudest moments of my entire life.”
What’s next: “After Temple, I will work full time as a head counselor with a YMCA summer camp in North Carolina, leading counselors and organizing camp activities. Also, after the end of my internship with the North Carolina Football Club and North Carolina Courage, I will work part time for the two organizations as a game day staffer. In my role with both teams, I will help assemble and dismantle equipment at arenas for games while working in the premium suite areas. I hope to pursue a career in fan engagement working for a professional sports team.”
