Temple celebrated the launch of the Office of International Affairs with a reception on Oct. 20.

At the reception, Kevin Sprouls, TYL ’77 and an alumnus of Temple Rome, signed a print he created of Temple Rome’s home, the Villa Caproni. Sprouls’ print, a hedcut, is done in a style he made famous in The Wall Street Journal. “We find great pleasure in seeing how study abroad changes the lives of our students,” said Kim Strommen, dean of Temple Rome.

In addition to Sprouls, the event featured international artists Mayumi Nagayama (Tyler, M.F.A. ’08) and Bassem Yousri (Tyler, M.F.A. ’09).

Guests at the reception also got a sneak peak at the new International Affairs web site, which features a map that shows all of Temple’s international campuses as well as its international partnerships and

programs round the globe. The web site, which will launch in the near future, provides the university with the first centralized data on international education at Temple.

At the event, Interim Vice President of International Affairs Adelaide Ferguson urged guests to become involved.

“Now that you all know the way to our office, we hope you will not be strangers. Collaboration is key to advancing globalization at Temple and we are here to work with every one of you to advance Temple’s global mission,” she said.

“One of Temple’s strengths is our international campuses in Rome and Japan,” said Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs Lisa Staiano-Coico. “Few other U.S. universities can claim multiple international campuses. We look forward to continuing to integrate these campuses even more into the fabric of Temple’s international initiatives.”
