College of Education celebrates Black History Month with local students
Students from Tanner Duckrey Elementary School’s North Philadelphia Inspirational Choir perform a selection during "A Celebration of Black History," held in Kiva Auditorium in Ritter Hall Annex on Feb. 26. The celebration featured performances from the former Partnership Schools — Duckrey, Paul Laurence Dunbar Elementary School, Joseph C. Ferguson Elementary School and the Gen. George C. Meade Elementary School — in a variety of mediums including dance, poetry, song and spoken word. C. Kent McGuire, dean of the College of Education, and Will Jordan, executive director of the Institute for Schools and Society, spoke to the children. Valerie Gay, the College of Education’s director of development and alumni affairs, served as mistress of ceremonies. |
