Creative capacities put to the test at Tyler glass blowing contest
Tyler School of Art's second annual 24-hour Blow-A-Thon featured a full day of lectures and design seminars for students of glass. Held March 16 in Tyler's state-of-the-art glass studios, the event included the "Experimental Glass Challenge," a timed glass sculpting contest that pitted student-led teams from Tyler's glass program against their peers from Virginia Commonwealth University. The groups were charged with designing and developing a project that referenced mass production, but with a more ephemeral quality -- all before a midnight deadline.
