LIFT: Four artists, one dance festival

Adjunct dance faculty work hard to offer their students guidance and creative direction.

In an effort to acknowledge their work on and off campus, the Boyer College of Music and Dance will present LIFT, a dance festival showcasing the work of Temple University’s adjunct dance faculty.

  • When: Oct. 26 and 27 at 8 p.m.
  • Where: Conwell Dance Theater
  • Cost: Tickets are $15 general admission, $13 for students and free for Temple students with OWLcard

LIFT will include four dance pieces choreographed by artists Meghan Durham, Olive Prince, Noemi Segarra and Shavon Norris.

“The LIFT concert is the Dance Department’s way of acknowledging the importance of the artists who are viable and indispensable members of our faculty,” said Kariamu Welsh, chair of the department. “This performance outlet for them is our way of thanking and encouraging them as artists and teachers.”

The multimedia performance will combine dance with several unexpected elements including alternate light sources and experimental video.

“LIFT is a successful exhibition of the high-quality work created by independent, working artists.” said Olive Prince, performer and curator for LIFT.
