Temple’s School of Pharmacy recently recognized the research work of professional and graduate students, research associates, and College of Science and Technology undergraduates during 2011 Research Recognition Day.

Sixty-five posters highlighting student research projects were presented and judged by over 30 representatives from the pharmaceutical industry, including Novartis, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Astra-Zeneca, Cephalon, and Bristol-Myers Squibb, as well as individuals from clinical/healthcare settings.

Lonnie Moulder (Pharm ’80), CEO and co-founder of TESARO, a privately held oncology-focused biopharmaceutical company, served as one of the judges for the poster presentations. Along with his wife, Sharon (Pharm ’80), the Moulders helped establish the School of Pharmacy’s Moulder Center for Drug Discovery Research in 2008. He toured the center’s newest facilities along with Dean Peter Doukas and Moulder Center Director Magid Abou-Gharbia during part of the afternoon.

Research Recognition Day began with a keynote lecture, “Getting Started in Clinical Research: Elements for Success,” by alumnus Thomas Lodise (’99), associate professor at Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and was followed by a luncheon before the poster presentations. A reception followed an awards ceremony.
