Ways to Give 2008

Throughout the coming weeks, the Temple community is reaching out to help make the holidays a little brighter for others.

Events are listed in chronological order by end date.

Food drive
Through Dec. 1: The Ambler Campus Owl Ambassadors are collecting non-perishable food items for the 12th annual Camp Out for Hunger, which benefits Philabundance. For more information, contact Kelly Otis at 267-468-8101 or kotis@temple.edu.
Locations: Collections boxes are located on the Ambler Campus, in Bright Hall, West Hall and the Ambler Learning Center.

Toy drive
Through Dec. 3: The Criminal Justice Society at Temple University Ambler is sponsoring a toy drive to support the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots program. The organization is seeking new, unwrapped toys. For more information, e-mail gina.hathaway@temple.edu.
Locations: Donations barrels are located on the Ambler Campus, in Bright Hall lounge and West Hall.

Toy drive
Through Dec. 4: The National Society of Collegiate Scholars is accepting donations of toys, cash and clothes for the Ronald McDonald House in Philadelphia. E-mail gcrich@temple.edu or jamie.leather@temple.edu for details.
Locations: Donations can be dropped off at the NSCS body meeting (held on Dec. 4, 5:30-6:30 p.m., at Tuttleman Learning Center, room 105) or during NSCS office hours (through Dec. 4 in the Howard Gittis Student Center, the Village, cubicle #8.

Book drive

Through Dec. 5:
Temple University Ambler’s Society for Exceptional Educators is collecting children’s books to donate to Mattison Avenue Elementary School in Ambler Borough. For more information, e-mail jkwilson@temple.edu.
Locations: Donation boxes are located on the Ambler Campus, in Bright Hall lounge, Widener Hall and West Hall.

Clothing drive

Through Dec. 5:
Campus Recreation is collecting adult and children's clothing.
Locations: The IBC Student Recreation Center, the Student Pavilion, the Pearson Hall pool and suite 102 in McGonigle Hall.

Children’s holiday party

Through Dec. 12:
The Department of Campus Safety Services seeks donations for its annual children’s party. Last year, Campus Safety Services raised enough money to provide toys, food, prizes and entertainment to more than 300 community children.
Location: Make checks payable to Campus Safety Services, 1101 W. Montgomery Ave., Philadelphia, Pa. 19122.

Book drive
Through Dec 12: The Temple University Alumni Association is accepting book donations for Temple’s Partnership Schools. For more information, contact the Institute for Schools and Society/ Partnership Schools at 215-204-6307.

For the list of books that are needed, follow the following steps:

1. Visit www.amazon.com.

2. Click the arrow next to “Gifts & Wish Lists.”

3. Under “Find Someone’s Wish List,” type Partnership Schools Temple University.

4. Click “Go.”

5. Make your selection(s) from the Partnership Schools 2008 list by clicking “Add to Cart.”

6. When you are ready to complete your order, click “Proceed to check out.” Amazon will ask you to log in or to create an account.

7. Click “Ship to Address at”: Institute for Schools and Society/Partnership Schools.

8. Proceed to “Payment Method.”

9. Forward a copy of your e-order confirmation to partners@temple.edu.

Toy drive

Through Dec. 15:
Temple's Golden Key International Honour Society is collecting toys, clothing and money to help Women Against Abuse. Donations of unwrapped toys, clothing or monetary gifts will be accepted. For more information, contact Quetta Nicholson at 215-204-3644 or nicholsq@temple.edu.
Location: 1810 Liacouras Walk, fifth floor, Tuttleman Counseling Services.
