The Temple women's basketball team (13-10, 6-1 A-10) continued to make history on Saturday, Feb. 2 , when they won their 18th consecutive Big Five game, in a 60-55 victory over La Salle (9-13, 1-6 A-10).

The win gave the Owls their fourth straight Big Five title, and also made them the first team to win four straight titles since round robin play began in the 1979-80 season.

The win also meant that seniors Ashley Morris, Lady Comfort, Nicole Pittman and Candice Borrows became the first players to win all of their Big Five games.

“With Philadelphia being a rich basketball town, you want to be considered the best, not just among the best,” Coach Dawn Staley told the Philadelphia Inquirer, which also mentioned that Staley is only three wins away from having the most wins in the program’s history.

The victory over La Salle boosted the team’s conference record to 6-1, keeping them in first place in the Atlantic 10 conference.

The Owls’ next game is Wednesday, Feb. 6, against Charlotte, at the Liacouras Center.
