Planning for possible SEPTA Regional Rail strike
As you might know, SEPTA Regional Rail workers could strike beginning Saturday, June 14. SEPTA’s city trolleys, buses and subways should not be affected. However, this is a good opportunity to review Temple’s policies and plans in the event of a suspension of Regional Rail service.
As during past SEPTA strikes, Temple University will be open for business as usual, and all classes and events will be held as scheduled. Employees will be expected to report to work on time to ensure uninterrupted service to students, visitors and patients. Talk with your supervisor if you have any questions regarding expectations. We also encourage you to talk with your co-workers about the possibility of carpooling.
We understand that a strike will make travel difficult, and many who usually take Regional Rail might need to drive to campus. Should a strike occur, reduced-rate parking will be available in the Liacouras Garage, Temple Towers, Lot 1 and Lot 10. At those locations, daily rates will be $5 for students with TUids, $8 for employees with TUids and $15 for guests.
Also note that the Montgomery Garage (at 11th Street and Montgomery Avenue) and Lot 9 (on Cecil B. Moore Avenue) offer hourly rates of $3. Additional lots will be made available if they are needed. See the Main Campus parking map for specific locations. Those who typically travel to Temple University Center City or the Health Sciences Center might consider parking on Main Campus and taking the subway.
This weekend, monitor both local media and www.septa.org. We will continue to watch the situation closely and keep you updated as needed. Thank you.
