Beata Kosmider
Associate Professor of Physiology, Department of Thoracic Medicine and Surgery, School of Medicine

What attracted you to Temple? Continuing my research on emphysema pathophysiology and the impact of environmental factors—such as cigarette smoke, ozone and influenza virus—on lung injury is very attractive.
What do you hope to accomplish? I hope to develop new therapeutic strategies against this disease.

Sean Gillian Queisser
Associate Professor, Department of Mathematics, College of Science and Technology

What attracted you to Temple? Temple University’s values and excellence, my colleagues and department, and great research opportunities were all important to me.
What do you hope to accomplish? I look forward to contributing further to the field of applied mathematics and bringing neuroscience, medicine, mathematics and computing closer together.

David Nickerson
Associate Professor, Department of Political Science, College of Liberal Arts

What attracted you to Temple? What didn’t attract me to Temple? The Political Science Department boasts top-flight talent in political behavior. I fully believe in the university’s mission of making a high-quality college education affordable, and Philadelphia is a great place to live and a fantastic place to study and do research.
What do you hope to accomplish? In my teaching, I would like to develop classes aimed at preparing students for careers focused on problem solving and analyzing data. In my research, I plan to study how government can provide services to their citizens most efficiently and effectively.

Elizabeth Pfeiffer

What attracted you to Temple? I am extremely excited to start on the tenure track and move my research agenda forward.
What do you hope to accomplish? I want to help those with autism spectrum disorders and mental illness participate fully in home and community environments through my research, which focuses on measurement and intervention to reduce environmental factors that impact participation in community and healthcare settings.
