James P. Creedon has been named Temple's senior vice president for construction, facilities and operations, beginning immediately. Creedon's portfolio includes the departments of Planning and Design, Construction (including projects in the Temple 20/20 framework), Facilities, Operations, Security, Sustainability, and Environmental Health and Safety, along with Business Services, Parking Services, management of the Liacouras Center and the Temple Performing Arts Center and real estate management. In addition, he will oversee construction, operations and maintenance at the Health Sciences Center.

"As the Temple 20/20 framework becomes a reality, we needed a stellar individual who will ensure the high quality of our future and current facilities. Jim Creedon's credentials make him perfectly suited for this vital role," said President Ann Weaver Hart.

Creedon has also been an adjunct faculty member at Temple, teaching graduate courses in project management, continuity of operations, and public budgeting and finance.

As part of his new operation, Creedon's team has added Vice President William Bergman, who will manage the departments of Operations, Security, Business Services and Environmental Health and Safety. Bergman, a 15-year veteran of the university, came to Temple in 1996 after 27 years with the Philadelphia Police Department, where he served as chief inspector of the detective bureau, chief inspector of the communications bureau and deputy police commissioner. Before joining the Executive Office of the President in 2010, Bergman was vice president of operations and business services.

Prior to joining Temple, Creedon was president of Creedon Management Associates, a firm he formed after leaving Gov. Edward Rendell's cabinet in 2010.  Creedon Management Associates provided program management, management consulting and organizational and business development services to private, non-profit and public sector clients.

From 2005 to 2010, Creedon was secretary of the Department of General Services (DGS), where he managed one of the largest operating departments in Pennsylvania government. DGS managed over $4 billion in construction, annually managed over $4 billion in procurement and had over 1,000 employees. In 2009, Creedon was also appointed by Rendell as Pennsylvania’s chief implementation officer for the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). In that role, he managed the development, selection, delivery and monitoring of more than $14 billion in spending.

Creedon joined DGS as deputy secretary for public works in 2003. As deputy secretary, he managed and coordinated hundreds of commonwealth-funded construction projects, helping to improve the quality of design and construction while reducing the cost of delivery.

A life-long resident of the Lehigh Valley, he received his bachelor's degree and MBA from Lehigh University. His career began as director of planning and development for Lehigh County. He later was employed by Martin Simonds Associates in Seattle, where he provided management consulting services to engineering and architectural firms throughout the United States and Canada.

He also served as vice president for communications and community affairs, and as senior vice president for business development, North America, with United Water, one of the nation's largest investor-owned water service companies.
