Three-time Temple graduate and Philadelphia attorney and businesswoman Marina Kats was elected to the Temple University Board of Trustees on Dec. 19.
A native of Kiev in Ukraine, Kats graduated from Temple in 1985. She received her JD in 1988 from the Beasley School of Law, and returned to earn a master’s degree in 1995, at the time becoming one of a handful of women nationally to receive the master of laws (LLM) in trial advocacy.
“Marina’s story is a Temple Made story: an immigrant who came to this country and didn’t speak English, but saw an opportunity at Temple and has gone on to a highly successful career,” said Board of Trustees Chair Patrick J. O’Connor. “We are delighted to have her expertise on the board.”
Kats serves on the Board of Visitors for the Beasley School of Law and the Temple University Leadership Council, and is an active member of the Temple Law Alumni Association and a charter member of the Law School’s Centennial Society.
Kats is the founder and a shareholder of Kats, Jamison & Associates and a member of the Pennsylvania, New York, Washington, D.C., and New Jersey Bar Associations.
She is actively involved with a number of charitable and civic organizations. Among the boards she sits on are those of Albert Einstein Medical Center and the Foreign Policy Research Institute. She currently serves as president of the Eurasian American Chamber of Commerce.
