Temple University’s Board of Trustees on July 10 approved increases in undergraduate base tuition for 2019.

For the upcoming academic year, annual undergraduate base tuition will be $16,080 (up $312) for Pennsylvania residents and $28,176 (up $648) for out-of-state students. Mandatory fees will remain $890 a year.
 
“We are very grateful to the House and Senate leadership, along with the administration, for increasing its support for the next academic year,” said President Richard M. Englert. “Like those of us at Temple, our elected officials are committed to keeping tuition as affordable as possible, especially for the nearly 28,000 Pennsylvania residents who attend Temple.”
 
This year, the Commonwealth appropriation for Temple was $155.1 million, an increase of 3 percent over last year. Englert noted that thanks to the increased Commonwealth support, an earlier plan to increase tuition for state residents by $528 was reduced to $312. In addition, Temple will hold mandatory fees flat for the coming year.
 
“We appreciate the Commonwealth’s continued support, which allows us to have the lowest tuition increase for Pennsylvania residents in seven years,” Englert said.
 
Englert further noted that Temple’s base tuition for Pennsylvania residents is “a terrific bargain” when compared with that of other universities.

“Students and their families know a great value when they see it, and Temple’s continued success in attracting Pennsylvania students is a testament to our commitment to quality, affordability and accessibility,” he said.

About 18 percent of Temple’s tuition revenue goes to support financial aid for students.
