Additional travel guidance (faculty and staff)

To the Temple community:

As we continue to take steps to keep our community healthy and safe, we want to remind you that no one associated with Temple University has been diagnosed with the COVID-19 virus here in the U.S. or on any of our international campuses.

Our actions remain preventive in nature, and as a precautionary measure, the university has implemented the following travel guidance that we believe is in your best interest as well as the best interest of those with whom you live and work.

In the interest of patient safety, there will be additional restrictions for those delivering healthcare at Temple University Health System and Temple’s medical, dental, podiatric medicine and pharmacy schools, as well as in the College of Public Health. An additional memorandum will follow describing those additional restrictions.

Travel guidance
Temple is suspending university-affiliated international travel by students, faculty and staff to any area under a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warning of Level 1 or higher for COVID-19. This measure will be in effect until the end of the spring semester.

We urge you to consider personal international travel in light of CDC advisories. You may be subject to the CDC guidance which requires self-monitoring for 14 days after returning to the U.S.

We also discourage university-affiliated domestic travel to conferences with large groups taking place in the U.S. Video participation is frequently offered for conferences, and we encourage you to explore teleconferencing as an alternative. If you have a conference scheduled, please check with your dean or cognizant vice president.

We realize there have been a number of changes recently and have developed a page which consolidates all our major messages regarding COVID-19. We urge you to take advantage of this information and join with other members of our community in keeping us all safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Richard M. Englert
