To the Temple University Community:

It is with great sadness that we write to let you know that we lost a member of our Temple University and College of Education and Human Development family. The body of Cassandra “Casey” Johnston was recovered over the weekend. Casey, who had been missing for several weeks, was a 26-year-old human development and community engagement major and a native of Bucks County.

Casey had so much life to live and so much to give. Her friends and peers fondly remember her warm, kind demeanor, which was a hallmark of her personality. She would help anyone at a second’s notice. She was the true definition of a “friend.”

Casey had already started to put her Temple education to good use. She worked in the afterschool/summer program at Neshaminy Kids Club and was a favorite of student attendees, who affectionately referred to her as “Miss Casey.” She hoped to open her own daycare center upon graduation.

A tragedy like this is an unfortunate reminder of how fragile life can be. It will no doubt affect many of us and in a variety of ways. The Temple University community extends our thoughts and deepest sympathies to those who were closest to Casey, especially her family and friends.

Casey will be missed and all of our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with those closest to her, especially her parents Carolann and Joseph Johnston.
