To the Temple community:
Following a thorough search process, we are very pleased to announce Temple University’s new director for emergency management, Nicola Mammes.
Nicola has served in multiple roles within the city of Philadelphia’s Office of Emergency Management (OEM) since 2017. In these roles, Nicola has managed risk and capabilities assessment as well as implemented large-scale disaster recovery programs. She brings to Temple a data-driven and informed culture of preparedness.
Throughout her career, Nicola has coordinated efforts and partnerships with key stakeholders in all levels of leadership and government, including FEMA, PEMA, the Philadelphia departments of Public Health and Commerce, and the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority. As an on-call team lead for the OEM, Nicola has expertise in incident command and emergency operations that span weather disasters, civil unrest, vaccine distribution and a refinery explosion.
A two-time Rutgers University alumna, Nicola’s research and study has been dedicated to city and regional planning and public policy.
