Dear students, 

Early this morning, shortly after midnight, Temple University and Philadelphia Police Departments received a call that an unknown individual attempted to rob a student at gunpoint as the student was walking on the 1600 block of W. Berks Street.  

This incident is similar to the armed robbery from earlier this week, and the Philadelphia Police Department Central Detective Division is leading the investigation to see if there are any linkages between the crimes. In both cases, we are grateful that the students responded in the way they did and that no physical injuries were reported. 

We recognize the impact that incidents like this have on students’ well-being. That is especially the case now as the semester winds down and students work to complete their coursework and finals. The Office of the Dean of Students will be contacting the affected student from last night and will be working to make both counseling and other trauma-informed resources available. Any other student who has been affected by this or other incidents of crime in the area is encouraged to reach out directly to Tuttleman Counseling Services for support.
