Continuing to honor President Epps
To the Temple Community:
We all continue to mourn the loss of JoAnne Epps, our president, provost, dean, faculty member, friend and mentor. We were heartened to see the enormous gathering at the Bell Tower for the vigil and remembrance. During a special board meeting earlier today trustees shared our memories, stories and tears. For more than 30 years, President Epps made an indelible impact on the Temple community.
At our regularly scheduled fall board meeting on Oct. 10, we will formally remove the “acting” notation from her most recent title, and recognize her brief but impactful term as the 13th president of Temple University. What’s more, a fund will be established in President Epps’ name to continue her unwavering support of Temple’s mission and its students. Details of the fund will be circulated at a later date.
President Epps held herself to a very high standard in all that she did, and especially in the relentless pursuit of Temple’s mission of access and excellence. We can all honor her memory by carrying on this important work.
Sincerely,
Mitchell L. Morgan
Chair, Board of Trustees
