Philadelphia Eagles Championship Parade

Dear Students and Colleagues,

The Philadelphia Eagles are world champions once again! The Eagles represented the City of Philadelphia with both grit and class in a dominating Super Bowl LIX win.

As Philadelphia’s public research university, we congratulate the Eagles on this historic victory. We will be very proud to have Temple football playing at the home of the Super Bowl champions this fall.

We look forward to welcoming the world champions home and cheering them on as they parade up Broad Street on Friday.

As you may know, the city will be altering traffic routes and making changes to public transportation schedules to accommodate Friday’s parade. This may include SEPTA’s Regional Rail station here at Main Campus as well as the nearby Broad Street and Market-Frankford subway lines. We also expect traveling to and from Main Campus to be very difficult. For that reason, Temple’s U.S. campuses will be closed and classes will be canceled this Friday, Feb. 14. This includes all night classes.

Only essential employees should report as scheduled to closed campuses. The Lewis Katz School of Medicine, the School of Podiatric Medicine, the School of Pharmacy, the Kornberg School of Dentistry and the nursing program will be issuing their own guidance regarding any delays to clinics and other activities.

Residence halls will remain open, and staff members will be available. Campus dining operations will be open and operate on a normal schedule as well.

As we prepare for the parade, I want to thank all our first responders, especially the police officers, dispatchers, security officers, and command staff with Temple’s Department of Public Safety, who worked through the night Sunday and into Monday so that everyone could celebrate in a safe and responsible manner. We are grateful for their efforts.

I also want to take a moment to thank all students for representing Temple well and remind you to celebrate responsibly. If you are attending the parade on Friday, please make smart decisions and know the university can take disciplinary action against students who violate the Student Conduct Code.

Once again, I urge everyone ahead of Friday’s parade to have fun and stay safe.

Go Birds!
