Honoring service and sacrifice this Memorial Day
Dear Students and Colleagues,
The last several months have brought with them a multitude of challenges and uncertainty. At a time when divisiveness and turmoil have consumed the headlines, national holidays can offer a moment for unity, reflection and appreciation.
Memorial Day provides us with an opportunity to remember, recognize and honor the patriots who have given their lives in service to this great country. It is a chance to demonstrate our respect for those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
For some in our community, Memorial Day has a particularly personal impact. My sincere condolences to those of you who have lost a friend, family member or comrade in service to this country. We are indebted to these individuals and are grateful for their tremendous courage.
Memorial Day is also an opportunity to express gratitude toward our active military members and veterans. Here at Temple, more than 300 current students, faculty and staff members are veterans who have served this country, and we are thankful to count these heroes among our university community.
I wish you all a peaceful and reflective weekend.
Sincerely,
John Fry
President
