Support Temple’s back-to-school supply drive
To the Temple community,
As the back-to-school season approaches, Temple University is excited to invite our students, faculty, staff and community members to help support area young people through our Pack the Patrol Car school supply drive.
Multiple university partners, including the Department of Public Safety, the College of Education and Human Development and Community Impact and Civic Engagement, have been working collaboratively on this important initiative. We are now calling on the entire university community to come together to do their part and help us fill a Temple Police patrol car with essential school supplies for the youth of North Philadelphia who attend our neighboring schools.
Some of these young students, no doubt, are future Owls. To ensure they have what they need for a successful start to the academic year, the Temple community is invited to come out and support our kickoff event:
Date: Monday, August 4
Time: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Location: In front of the Owl statue on Liacouras Walk.
The requested items include
- Highlighters
- Pencils and pens
- Erasers
- Folders
- Notebooks
- Glue sticks
- Crayons
- Boxes of markers
- Tissue boxes
- Small bottles of hand sanitizer
- Loose-leaf notebook paper
Two additional locations will be accepting donations beginning Aug. 4 through Aug. 8:
- The College of Education and Human Development
- Drop-off will be inside Ritter Annex just outside of the Dean’s Suite on the first floor of Ritter Annex, 1301 Cecil B. Moore Ave. Enter by the fountain or Cecil B. Moore Ave.
- Community Impact and Civic Engagement
- Drop-off will be in room 200 on the second floor of the Entertainment and Community Education Center, 1509 Cecil B. Moore Ave.
Pack the Patrol Car reflects the university’s continuing commitment to service and community partnership. This event also underscores our mission of civically engaging with the community, especially our North Philadelphia neighbors. We look forward to having you join us Aug. 4 as we rally together in support of this important cause.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Griffin
