Conduct and Community Standards

Dear students,

Temple University is committed to fostering a safe, healthy and supportive campus environment. While we are all excited for the first weekend of the fall semester, it’s important to remember that we are all responsible for our actions, upholding community standards and representing Temple with pride on and off campus.

The Division of Student Affairs and the Department of Public Safety have become aware of unsanctioned gatherings where underage and high-risk drinking has occurred or may occur.

We want to remind you that underage possession or consumption of alcohol, as well as hosting or attending unauthorized parties that involve unlawful use or distribution of alcohol, are prohibited by Pennsylvania law and Temple University’s Student Conduct Code. Such activities not only endanger the health and safety of those involved but also place the broader campus community at risk.

Students who engage in underage drinking or violate the Student Conduct Code on or off campus may face:

  1. Disciplinary action, including warnings, fines, probation, suspension or dismissal. The Conduct Code can apply to student behavior on and off campus.

  2. Legal or criminal consequences under state and city ordinances.

We are committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all of our students, faculty staff and members of the community. Even behavior that isn’t breaking the law may prove disruptive or disrespectful to our neighbors. Gatherings that involve violence of any kind, damaging property or littering in our community will not be tolerated. Students are encouraged to review the Good Neighbor Initiative.

Our priority is your safety

Temple University offers many resources to help students make safe and healthy choices.

  • At any time, students can request a walking escort on campus or within the university patrol zone by calling 215-777-9255.

  • Please download the TUSafe app and follow Temple’s Department of Public Safety X accounts, @TU_Police and @TempleAlert

We encourage you to make responsible decisions, look out for each other and uphold the standards.

Together, we can ensure that Temple remains a safe and supportive environment for all students.

Sincerely,
